The maternal mortality ratio is the number of women who die from pregnancy-related causes while pregnant or within 42 days of pregnancy termination per 100,000 live births.(Our World In Data)

The second chart is the most effective, because it shows the points in which the countries compare to one another, and it pinpoints the year on its own. It’s also straightforward, and just by reading the key, you can understand what the chart is trying to say.

Questions for the data

What was the total number of pregnancy-related deaths in the U.S?

Which years had the most steady/continuous number of maternal mortality rates?

In between 2000–2015 how many women died in Iran from pregnancy-related deaths?

525,000 died between 2000–2015 from a childbirth relation death

Formal Reporting

If I were formally reporting this story, I would speak to an OBGYN in my hometown, primary doctors at my local office, and a teacher that teaches sociology to discuss the unconscious bias that doctors may have. I would also speak to family members and their experience, as well as the patients that were at the doctor's office.
